Supporting the Performing Arts - In Remembrance of Terry

Terry Domschke (1941—2017) was a fixture of the Elgin Community College and Elgin Theatre Community. Terry began teaching at ECC in 1966, eventually becoming the Director of Theatre until his retirement in 1999. In addition to his time at ECC, Terry was active in numerous theatre companies and served as artistic director for three theatre companies: Janus Theatre Company, Synquest Players, and Renaissance Repertory Theatre. His work also included producing plays for Larkin High School and Elgin Academy and directing professional productions for a variety of regional theatres. 
 
Throughout his tenure, Terry mentored hundreds of students  including Katrina Syrris (ECC Class of 2013 and the founder of Goodly Creatures Theatre) whom Terry gave her first Stage Manager job. Terry was also helped with the original design of the Black Box and Blizzard Theaters as well as rehearsal and backstage areas of the Visual and Performing Arts Center at ECC.

Tonight we remember and honor Terry Domschke for his many talents, his kindness and laughter and his commitment to inspiring the next generation of performers and creators.

Proceeds from ticket sales and memorial donations in honor of Terry will directly support ECC Liberal, Visual and Performing Arts helping provide students with scholarships, resources, and enriching artistic experiences that inspire the next generation of performers and creators.
